Testing and Managing Stress
Quite a few years ago these images were introduced to me. The claim is that the rate of movement we see in the static images indicates our current level of stress. Allegedly, criminals see these images moving and spinning around madly, while seniors and children see them still.
My search to find the true source of the images has not been successful, and there is conflicting information about whether or not our perception of the images has any connection to stress at all.
Whatever the case, I find that they are a useful tool for me to meditate on, are quite unique, and I would like to share them with you.
To test yourself, look at the illustrations below. For a person in a more relaxed state, they should all move at a slow pace, barely rotating.
These images are not animated. They are completely still. If you are skeptical, you may print them (even in black and white) to be sure that the pictures online are not moving.
Some techniques you can use to slow down the rate of the movement in the images if they are moving quickly, are to breathe deeply, to relax the muscles around your eyes, choose a focal point, and allow your mind to become more still.
